It looks like mother Robin is through laying eggs. |
So now we wait.... |
Let's see - she laid the first egg on April 16th. The information I've read says it takes 12-14 days for them to hatch - so hopefully we'll have babies by next week! Mother robin has been very tolerant of me. She doesn't even seem to mind the lawnmower. She'll fly over to a nearby branch if I need to water the porch plants - but she comes right back as soon as I go inside.
I was digging around my two Dreamweaver Climbers and I found a few fat worms for her. I would take them over to the porch railing near the nest...in a few minutes, mother Robin would come back and the worms would disappear.
Peering through the blinds...and pacing back and forth. All this waiting. Any day now. I took this picture through the blinds because I didn't want to disturb her. She knew I was there though. She'll actually let me stand at the bottom of the steps without flying away. Phelix is v e r y interested in this whole process. Waiting is not his forte. |
